Tuesday 3 November 7.30pm Public Meeting on Palestine.

9 October 2015

On Tuesday 3 November at 7.30pm, a panel of experts will gather at the Green Room Theatre behind Dorking Halls to share their experiences of Palestine.

They will say the Israeli occupation of Palestine means that people are cut off from their farmland, from hospitals, and even from water supplies.  They are prevented from using settler-only roads. Over 6 million Palestinians live as refugees. Some have made their way to Calais, hoping to reach peace and safety in the UK.

Jasmine Kent-Hargreaves visited Palestine two years ago when she was 13.  At the Green Room Theatre she will speak about the Palestinian people she met who told her of their struggles.

Jacquetta Fewster from the Green Party said “During the General Election I was moved by the number of people who contacted me about Palestine.  They told me their feelings about the illegal Israeli occupation, and the hardship it causes.  It’s no surprise that just 100 miles away from Dorking, Palestinians are amongst those camping in Calais, hoping to reach a safe home in the UK.”

After the talks, Palestinian produce from the Community Interest Company Zaytoun will be available to sample.  Zaytoun supports Palestinian farmers by importing to the UK olive oil, dates, almonds, herbs and grains such as maftoul and freekeh.

The event is free.
